Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190) — Overview
- Type: Permanent residence visa.
- Purpose: For skilled workers who are nominated by an Australian State or Territory Government.
- Key Difference from Subclass 189: This is an alternative for skilled workers who may not meet the 189 visa’s higher points threshold.
- Condition: Approved applicants are expected to live, work, and study in the nominating state/territory for at least 2 years upon arrival.
Eligibility Criteria
You must:
- 1. Nominate an eligible skilled occupation (check the official occupation list).
- 2. Obtain a suitable skills assessment for your nominated occupation.
- 3. Be 18 to 44 years old.
- 4. Have competent English (e.g., IELTS 6 in each band or equivalent).
- 5. Be nominated by a State or Territory Government.
- 6. Meet the minimum points test score — at least 65 points.
- 7. Meet health and character requirements.
Application Process
- Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) via SkillSelect.
- Wait for an invitation to apply from a State/Territory Government.
- On invitation, lodge your visa application with all required documents.
